Neufchatel-en-Saosnois

♥ "Chez Julie"restaurant is at Neufchâtel (6km) near the "Maison des Randonnées" hostel; it is signposted from the main road. Informal atmosphere, excellent food and friendly (service may be a little slow when busy). The "café gourmand" and mousse au chocolat are favourite desserts. Open midday 7/7 plus Friday-Saturday evening (also Sunday April - August). Closed January. Menu 22-28€. T. 02 53 48 08 54.

Restaurants in Alencon

Alençon is just 10 minutes away by car and has a huge choice of restaurants - our recommendations are shown on the map. There are also two restaurants at St Paterne just before you get to Alençon and several restaurants and eateries in Arçonnay, all within 10 minutes.

Celebrating a special occasion? The Michelin Guide 2020 features several Alençon restaurants with menus from just 20 to 70 euro. At time of writing these include the Alezan at Arçonnay, and the Au Petit Vatel, La Suite and Rive Droite in Alençon centre.

Fast Food and Snacks

There are tea rooms, bakers, sandwich bars and cafés serving light meals and snacks in the town centre - look in Grande Rue and around the Halle au Blé.

The Leclerc shopping centre near the A28 Exit 19 has fast food and snack outlets - a very good sandwich bar, a bar-bistro and a Flunch inside the Leclerc building, plus a McDonalds and a Burger King on the roundabout next to the main road.

There is a friendly resto-bar 5 minutes away at Neufchatel-en-Saosnois called the "New Castle", open mornings, luchtimes and early evenings.
